I flew a plane today and it was amazing. I’ve come to learn a lot about planes since skydiving which definitely puts me in a good position to start flying. I did my first flight today in a Cessna 172 at Springs Aviation.
We took off from Meadow Lake Airport and played around a bit. After that we headed to the Colorado Springs airport as they had no traffic and did two touch and go landings. We headed back to the airport after that and landed with a simulated engine loss (engine at idle on base leg). I was controlling the aircraft for the whole flight (with likely unknown assistance from the instructor in the seat next to me). He also controlled the throttle for most of the flight.
It was awesome and I will probably be back. Jumping out of a plane is certainly more fun (this was the first time I’ve actually come back to the ground in a small plane). It is possible I will pursue a pilot’s license… who knows…
